Writopia Returns to the Gaithersburg Book Festival

Last year, the Gaithersburg Book Festival welcomed Writopia Lab for the first time as part of the festival workshop line up. Inside City Hall, high school students attended a workshop that sharpened their college essay writing skills while outside in the children’s village little ones worked together to build a story. This year, Writopia returns, offering these popular programs again as well as a new workshop: Scholastic Writing Awards – Mock Judging.

Writopia Lab is a nonprofit organization that offers creative writing workshops for kids ages 8 to 18. Founded in New York City, Writopia has expanded to locations in New York state, California, Connecticut, and the Greater Washington area. Most recently, Writopia, has opened a convenient new location for after-school, weekend, and summer workshops in Rockville on the Johns Hopkins Montgomery County Campus.

If you know a teen working on college essays, make sure you enroll him/her in our “College Admissions Essays: What’s Your Story?” workshop.
