GBF Announces Partnership with Politics & Prose
In a past life, I was a publicist for a publisher. One of my main jobs was arranging author tours, and whenever we started planning a tour, one of the first bookstores authors would suggest as a potential tour stop was Politics & Prose in Washington, DC. The reasons P&P was so revered were many, but paramount was its ability to draw a crowd no matter the topic. (And as a publicist who attended one too many signings where the “crowd” was not something you’d even consider calling a crowd, I can attest to the fact this is no small feat on P&P’s part.) In publishing circles, there’s no question that P&P is considered the cream of the crop when it comes to independent bookstores.
It’s because of the store’s amazing legacy — and bright future — that we at the Gaithersburg Book Festival are so excited about our big announcement today. We’ve formed a partnership with Politics & Prose for the 2012 Festival!
As GBF Chair and City of Gaithersburg Councilmember explained to The Town Courier: “Politics & Prose will be … a true ‘partner.’ They are one of the best-known, best-loved independent booksellers in the United States and they will help bring a large and loyal community of book-lovers to our festival. The experience and contacts they’ve cultivated by doing more than 500 author events a year will help take our great event to even higher levels.”
