Caution: E-Mail scammers posing as GBF

The Gaithersburg Book Festival is aware of fraudulent emails targeting participants and authors that appear to come from Mayor Jud Ashman or other Gaithersburg Book Festival representatives. These emails falsely request a participation fee. 

Please note:

• The Gaithersburg Book Festival does not charge participation fees for its featured authors. The Gaithersburg Book Festival only charges fees for exhibiting authors to have a booth at the festival.
• The Gaithersburg Book Festival will never request payments via email.
• Official emails from City of Gaithersburg staff and officials with the Gaithersburg Book Festival will always end with “gaithersburgmd.gov.” All communications from non‑city domains should be treated as suspicious.
• Do not click on links or provide personal or financial information in response to suspicious messages.
•  If you receive a suspicious email, forward the original message with full headers to gbf@gaithersburgmd.gov and delete the email immediately.
